Welcome to Hurricane
Utah, pronounced “her-ah-kun” by the locals.
Hurricane is a quiet alternative to the larger cities
and tourist towns in the area. This south-western Utah
community is surrounded by the beauty and adventure that
has made this part of the world famous. Red, green, beige
and purple sandstone walls stand just outside of this
picturesque town. The city itself is filled with tall,
old trees that provide much needed shade. Museums and
parks tell the history of the area and the community.
Hurricane
provides its visitors with a chance to experience life
in small town USA. With a population of less than 8,500
this is a “city” where you can still walk
outside at night and see the stars and wake up in the
morning to the sound of birds chirping. Other small
town activities include antique car shows/rallies; the
Washington County Fair held in August and the Peach
Days Festival which happens over the Labor Day weekend
each year.
Zion,
Bryce and even the Grand Canyon National Parks
are just a short drive from downtown Hurricane. Zion
National Park is just 19-miles from Hurricane and offers
more than 200 square miles of nature to enjoy and explore.
Some of the sites in the park include cliffs, rivers
and waterfalls; trees, cactus and wildflowers; lizards,
eagles and deer. Come experience this paradox of nature.
Hikers, mountain bikers and horseback
riders have several trails to choose from in this tranquil
valley. Adventurers can scale the walls of the canyon,
hike the narrows or do some back country backpacking.
Those wanting a more scenic and relaxing vacation can
choose from several short hikes, walks or stick to the
shuttle ride through the canyon. However you choose
to see Zion National Park it will be an unforgettable
vacation. |
